Are you ready for another fun protein oats recipe? Did you know you don’t actually have to wait overnight before you can enjoy these yummy oatmeal dishes? I usually have mine sitting in the fridge (or my chilled lunch box) for a few hours in the morning before I’m ready to eat and they are just as delightful and have time to thicken and become the perfect consistency. Protein oats work for not only an on-the-go breakfast, but even lunch or an afternoon snack!
Our family's sports' schedules have been in VERY full swing lately, so Nick and I often pack protein oats in a lunchbox in the car and enjoy breakfast as we drive to our next event on the weekends. Saves time and money and helps us still hit our protein goals in life's busy seasons.
Here’s what you’ll need for this yummy- packed with protein- combo:
½ cup quick oats
¼ cup (Oikos Triple Zero) vanilla Greek yogurt
¾ to whole scoop vanilla protein powder (depending on sweetness you like)
Water or almond milk for mixing (desired amount- ¼ to ½ cup)
¼ to ½ cup frozen cherries (mixed berry blend w/ cherries added works well too)
crumbled graham crackers for garnish on top *optional but recommended 😊
Steps:
This couldn’t be easier- just mixed everything together except the graham crackers, and save your fruit for last.
Add a smaller amount of liquid and then continue to add- this will help it to not become too “soupy” and you’ll be able to control the consistency you like it to be. It will firm up a tad as it sits in the fridge. The cherries will soften too and will taste delightful in every bite!
As always, adjust the amounts of oats or whatever you like to fit your needs. You can get an easy 30 grams of protein (or more) in, with this dish.
I am currently using Premier Protein- Vanilla Powder, but FNX is a great option as well. (Use code Fory and save 15%)
We also recently decided to try a new chocolate protein powder and we are quite pleased. If you're looking for a good-tasting chocolate protein with pretty good bang for your buck- here you go!
